In 2015, we were proud to support The Social Enterprise Cafe coordinated by the Big Umbrella.
This is a new concept for The Big Umbrella, who's work extends from feeding the homeless on the streets of Melbourne leading A Real MeaL, providing hot food to the marginalized communities of Melbourne. A ReaL MeaL differentiates itself from other programs where rather than providing a meal we share a meal. Conversing and getting to know familiar faces we spend our time not just supplying food but providing the respect these people deserve.A ReaL MeaL was initially created in Kathmandu, Nepal in 2010. This project provided the inspiration for the Melbourne initiative.
This concept of respect and sharing is now being brought to the Social Enterprise Cafe, a place where people can learn new skills and find respect and get back on their feet. Profits from the Cafe will help to fund the ReaL MeaL and other charitable programs.
